My baby is all growd up, and at 5 years old now, Alex is ready to transition to a big boy bed. We actually had a lifetime crib that transitions from baby crib, to toddler bed, to a full size bed that we’ve had since Evan was born 12 years ago. As we thought of the process of getting Alex out of the toddler bed, we knew we needed to get a full size mattress. The plan was to just use the lifetime crib and convert it to the full size bed, but having Javier (our foreign exchange student) in the guest bedroom meant that when the grandparents, or other family members/friends came to visit we would need to put Evan and Alex together. So we decided to get a bunk bed!
I found an affordable yet sturdy bunk bed online that is perfect for a boy’s room. I was so excited for both boys and my heart just melted seeing how stoked they both were to be able to sleep in the same room from time to time. I know, this is odd for siblings, but they see it as having sleepovers and Evan likes to sleep on the top bunk on the weekends.
Alex had been sleeping in a waterproof crib mattress with a plastic outer layer and inner springs and I knew it just couldn’t be that comfortable so I wanted the best for him. When it came time to get the full size mattress, I did a bit of research. I had seen mattresses in a box all over social media and kept reading about how wonderful and comfortable they are.
After searching and reading reviews, we ended up with Tomorrow Sleep’s full size Hybrid Mattress. Its the perfect balance of comfort and support, and it is designed with premium temperature regulating memory foam and a gently stabilizing coil system. You can choose between medium soft or medium firm. We picked the medium firm, which is not too hard but still firm and has the perfect balance for great support and comfort. My husband and I are so tempted to sleep on it and want one for ourselves which we will get in the next few months.
The fact that the mattress comes rolled up in a box and arrived in just two days was a huge help and deciding factors. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that hates mattress shopping, especially with kids in tow, its just way too stressful. The Tomorrow Sleep mattress was vacuum packed but it fully plumped up right away and Alex was able to lay on it immediately, without waiting the 24 hours that other rolled up mattress require to fully plump up. It is, however pricier but you can’t put price on comfort and its something he will have for years to come.
Alex also got a new set of sheets made of the softest Supima cotton in 500 thread count, pillows and a down comforter, all from Tomorrow. One of the pillows is a standard pillow, the other is a memory foam pillow. The down comforter is like being wrapped up by a cloud. Its a lot cozier than I thought it would be. Alex wasn’t too thrilled about the comforter at first. He said it sounded like paper and he didn’t like that, so he used his baby blanket. After a few nights the “paper” sound went away and he now appreciates how soft and comfy it is and loves it.
A few days into sleeping in his new bed I asked Alex what he thought of the mattress and his exact words were, “Its the comfiest bed ever, I love it and I love how good it feels. Thank you mommy!”
If you have been thinking of getting a mattress in a box, I highly recommend Tomorrow Sleep, you won’t regret it.
Thanks for stopping by!
