I’ve always been in love with wearing blazers. A good fitting blazer is that third piece that finishes off an outfit, making it classic and chic. So the fact that the plaid blazer trend is in full force this year, makes me extremely happy. So here I bring you one of my favorite plaid blazer outfits for the Fall season.
If you’re still on the mend about getting a plaid blazer or are not sure how to rock the trend, I am going to give you some tips on what to look for when shopping for one and ways to wear it.
How to Pick the Perfect Plaid Blazer
When looking for the plaid pattern, you want a subtle plaid in a neutral color, much like a man’s suit. On this post I am wearing this light grey plaid blazer with darker grey and burgundy lines, but you can also pick it in a light brown with darker brown and burgundy lines as well.
For the fit, you want it to be on the longer side. The hem should hit you just below your hips. This would make it a ‘boyfriend’ fit, but you also want it to be darted for a more feminine silhouette.
Ways to Wear a Plaid Blazer
What I love about a great blazer is that you can add it to different outfits and accomplish a variety of looks with it. So, while the plaid blazer is a trend at the moment, a blazer has always been a classic staple, and something you can get a lot of use out of and have it for years to come.
1) On this post I am wearing it with black ripped jeans and one of my favorite tees that says “Je Veux Vivre Dans Mes Reves”, which means I Want to Live in My Dreams. Its from a t-shirt collection I designed and a percentage of my profit will go to charity. You can read more about it HERE.
Because the pattern of the blazer has thin burgundy lines, I decided to bring that color out with my Marc Fisher burgundy booties and the cutest burgundy mini bucket bag from Fifteen and Fifteen. The bag is handmade with genuine leather and I was so pleasantly surprised at the craftsmanship and quality of the work she does. It might be mini but it holds quite a bit.
Of course I had to add my little crown jewel that is my Gucci belt into the mix.
2) Another way to wear the plaid blazer is basically by changing the jeans for a skater skirt, pencil skirt or mini skirt and adding some fishnet stockings or any patterned black stocking.
3) You can also wear it over a bodycon dress, slip dress or a sweater dress. Even with sneakers!
